The reason is that the functionality is amazing, I can get much better results with acoustic musicians, and it makes life on the road (as a musician and also running small music events) much simpler and setup much faster. I've been testing one for a month and have decided to buy a ui16 now. Most seem to have an external router and use the external router's ethernet for backup.

A simple traditional rack-mount mixer would be much more reliable and almost anyone who knows one end of a microphone from the other will understand it.Ī lot of people are using ui16/12s successfully for PA systems under their direct control, for example PA hire, musicians running their own PA or churches etc where a small team run it. The ui products have amazing functionality that would probably not be used by anyone in that situation.
SOUND MIXER SOFTWARE FOR SOUNDCRAFT UI16 INSTALL
I don't think I would install any wifi mixer as a standard fixture in a large number of rooms at different sites rooms used by random people. * but a UI24R instead if you want a great mixer but don’t mind it dying after a couple years or so.
SOUND MIXER SOFTWARE FOR SOUNDCRAFT UI16 UPDATE
* Do not ever buy a Soundcraft ui12 or ui16 - as you will have constant connection issues - which are a hardware issue that Soundcraft cannot did with a firmware update (and have not to this day fixed with a hardware update.) Sadly - I can report that after a year and a half - a few have developed an issue where all preamps suddenly stop working and just input static.

After a year and a half of testing - none of the replacement UI24Rs have experienced the same connection issues. The UI24R is manufactured in a different factory and uses a different network chip. * You won’t get lucky and buy one without the issue - every unit we bought (out of hundreds) had the same issue.īasically - during a live performance - you’ll be up **** creek without a paddle when the network drops out.Īfter fighting with our supplier - we won our case (due to the sheer volume of mixers we had purchased) and they agreed to recall every unit we had purchased and replace it (at no additional cost) with a UI24R. * Connecting a seperate Wireless Access Point via the LAN port of the mixer does NOT fix the problem because when the WIFI connection drops out - so does the connectivity of the LAN port. * When this mixer is left powered on 24/7 - the wifi issues are severe enough that the mixer has to be power cycled multiple times a day to get the wifi working again.

The other threads spoke about the Wifi Conectivity issues- but I wanted to outline a few facts about these connection issues that weren’t explicitly stated in the other threads.

Now that I’ve boasted about the positives of these mixers. Also - saving channel presets proved be to be a great way to preset EQ settings for different mix sources such as Lectern/Lapel/Hand held and Flat EQ. And for the function rooms that divided into multiple partitions - using the Aux outputs and saving routing snapshots - proved to be any easy way to do Room combine/split. In terms of how much this mixer offers - it seemed like an amazing deal. Some rooms had got the UI12 and some got the UI16 (depending on how many inputs were required. I noticed that there are already threads talking about this, but those threads are long and I feel that my posts will get lost/unnoticed and also feel that because of the wealth of experience I have with these mixers - that it’s inportant for some people to find this post easily.īecause of the low cost and what these mixers offer - the company I work for decided a few years ago that these would be great to install in the function rooms of hotels that don’t have a massive budget and only require a few inputs.
